KOH HAA YAI
Krabi- Further, Deeper Dive Sites Although Haa means five in Thai, Koh Haa Yai is actually made up of six small islands about 1.5-2 hours away from Ao Nang by speedboat. Visibility here is normally exceptional at 25m plus and depths range from about 15-30m. Koh Haa Yai is a common place to see Whalesharks, however, if you happen to be looking in the wrong direction you will still be blown away by the colour, volume and diversity of marine life that exists here. A favourite dive on these islands is the 'Cathedral' which sits inside a cave with entrances/exits at 5m and 16m. | |
The inside of the cave rises to 30m above sea level and is constantly refreshed by new air. The light that penetrates this 'Cathedral' creates a magical atmosphere and provides good photo opportunities. The consistently great visibility, coupled with favourable currents means that Koh Haa Yai is an ideal location even for recently certified divers. There is also a beautiful, sheltered lagoon which is ideal for snorkellers and is an area of outstanding natural beauty. |
